Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight is often credited as being one of the very best titles to come from the retro revival era of indie games, often credited as one of the best independent games of all time. It makes sense then that Mina the Hollower, the studio's next new IP, shattered its Kickstarter goal with flying colors last month and is looking to end its campaign in a few days making over four times its goal. Now, Yacht Club Games has announced that legendary Streets of Rage composer Yuzo Koshiro will be contributing to Mina the Hollower's soundtrack.
Mina the Hollower was announced during the developer's Yacht Club Games Presents presentation on February 1st, which was aired as part of G4's Xplay show. Yacht Club has described the game as the studio's equivalent to The Legend of Zelda series, with Shovel Knight being its Super Mario. The game is inspired by Gameboy Color adventure games such as The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and Castlevania Adventure and mixes a gothic horror aesthetic with highly stylized pixel artwork.
Shovel Knight Developer Unveils New Game Mina the Hollower
On February 1st, the developer launched Mina the Hollower's Kickstarter campaign with an intended goal of roughly $310,000. The campaign quickly met this goal in only a matter of days, and is currently resting at over $1 million and continues to grow even as there is over a day left before it ends. As a result, Yacht Club has promised numerous stretch goals as the game earns more money, with it now confirmed to include a New Game Plus mode, a fishing mini-game, and Mac and Linux ports. The developer has also confirmed today that Yuzo Koshiro, the legendary composer behind games like ActRaiser and Streets of Rage, will compose two tracks
