In Legacies season 4, Jen’s admission about her family's fate echoed an old trick that The Originalsstar Klaus pulled on The Vampire Diaries. Thanks to her Tribrid turn, Legacies villain Hope is as bad as The Vampire Diaries' Klaus in season 4 of the spinoff series. However, that is not all that the newer show borrows from its predecessor.
When Jen outlined the history of her family of gods in Legacies season 4, canny viewers may have recognized her unique method of dealing with their abilities. That is because it is the same strategy that Klaus used to imprison the Original vampires back in The Vampire Diaries. However, there is an argument to be made that Jen’s motives were much purer than those of the infamously power-hungry Klaus.

When Klaus’ coffins were first revealed in The Vampire Diaries, the heroes discovered that they each contained a dagger-ed Original vampire. Similarly, in Legacies season 4, episode 14, Jen (revealed to really be Vulcan) admitted that she sealed her family away supposedly to protect them from Malivore, only to reveal she never had any intention of waking them. The Legacies season 4 supporting star used the promise of freeing them once the Golem was defeated to get her powerful family in the coffins, but she then hid the key to the coffins where she would never find it instead of holding onto their only hope of escape.
