Leaked Classics On PlayStation Premium May Have Been Revealed

A supposed leak on Reddit claims upcoming PlayStation Classic games are already beginning to appear on the PSN backend. The leaker has a history of posting on tech-related subreddits and has provided title and concept IDs for all the games they claim to have uncovered. So far, that's Tekken 2, Ridge Racers 2, and Mr Driller.

If this leak is correct, it confirms some things we already knew about the service - a library of retro PS1 and PSP games will be available on the new tiers of PlayStation Plus. These tiers will be coming into effect in June for Japan, North America, and Europe, and May 23 for the rest of Asia.

At the moment, all we know about the retro games collection is that it will be part of the Premium tier that combines PS Now and PS Plus as they currently exist. That's the most expensive tier, but many will likely pay it to be able to play their old favourites or fill gaps in their gaming history. What we don't know is how many or which games will be present.

The three games apparently leaked so far suggest there will be a fairly wide range of titles available for players to choose from. There are around 60 games set to leave PS Now in May, so it's reasonable to assume some of these games will emerge on the new tier system. This could give us a rough idea of what to expect.

These PS1 and PSP classics will be available to download onto your console, as will PS2 games that are part of the collection, but PS3 games will, unfortunately, be streaming only. This means countries that don't have PlayStation streaming infrastructure will have to make do with a different top tier that doesn't include the PS3 games.
