Action RPG Last Epoch is headed for its 1.0 launch on February 21st. The team at Eleventh Hour Games has revealed a deep dive into the Item Factions system coming in the 1.0 release.
This system has been shaped by feedback from the community during Early Access and will feature two options–The Merchant’s Guild and the Circle of Fortune. This trading system offers different options within the loot-based game that were designed to fit with the lore and mechanics. The Merchant’s Guild is the more straightforward of the two, for a wider and familiar access system. It serves as a way to directly trade or use the Bazaar. Meanwhile, choosing to align with the Circle of Fortune still lets you trade directly with individuals, but choosing this route will enhance some of the item drops and you will be able to learn to use Prophecies to assist you in finding, and obtaining better items, and more of them.
The item hunt in a loot-based game is always going to be a central part of the fun, so balancing these systems and giving players options to fit their playstyles, and the way they want to pursue item collection was a challenge. According to Studio founder and game director Judd Cobler in a release, “Players are often split over an economy that can add value to their items and builds, and the thrill of the hunt that leads to uncovering unique items. But with crucialfeedback from our community, we’ve implemented a solution we believe satisfies both sides of the debate, and is a truly unique take on the action RPG trade debate”
