Kena: Bridge of Spirits is coming to a new platform, and getting an update alongside that. The Anniversary Update goes live on September 27, bringing Kena to Steam and adding a bunch of new features to all versions.
Alongside offering a new platform for folks who want to play Kena: Bridge of Spirits on Steam, or possibly their Steam Deck, the Anniversary Update tacks on more stuff to do.
Spirit Trials, Charmstones, and a New Game+ all arrive as part of the update. The photo mode is also getting an overhaul, and there are some new abilities for Kena to use in battle. Charmstones let you customize your playstyle, and special trials test your mettle in archery, platforming, and more. There’s even a new adventure in store.
The reveal today says that this Anniversary Update will be free for those who want to dip back into Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits was a nice surprise last year, bringing a lot of charm and PS2-era action-adventure vibes to PlayStation and PC. While the game’s graphics alone probably caught a lot of eyes, and it is a gorgeous video game, it sounds like the action underneath was also a good time.
Of course, this sort of experience seems just right for the Steam Deck. While the Deck is not mentioned on the Steam store page as of this writing, Kena: Bridge of Spirits will at least have full controller support. Fingers crossed?
Either way, this seems like an ideal time to check out Kena if you missed it the first time around. And for old players jumping in, New Game+ and the added content give a little bit more to explore as well.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits hits Steam on September 27, alongside the Anniversary Update.
