Oscar and Emmy winner is set to star in and executive produce a new Hulu series, titled. It hails from writer Ed Solomon (Full Circle), A24, and 20th Television.
Winslet will produce the series under her Juggle Productions banner, with Solomon serving as the series’ writer, executive producer, and showrunner. A24 serves as the lead, co-producing with 20th Television.
Per Deadline’s report, The Spot will center on a successful surgeon (played by Winslet), who might be responsible for the death of a child.
The official synopsis reads: “When a successful surgeon (Winslet) and her schoolteacher husband begin to suspect that she may be responsible for a child’s hit-and-run death, their quest for truth spirals into a web of mounting suspicion and dark secrets, testing their resolve and their relationship as they confront the possibility of hidden guilt and betrayal.”
Winslet, who’s best known for her roles in a number of acclaimed features, has also starred in a couple of television shows for the past several years including the titular Mildred Pierce, Mare of Easttown as Mare Sheehan, and — most recently — The Regime as Elena Vernham. Her early television credits include Dark Season, Anglo-Saxon Attitudes, and Get Back.
The actress also boasts quite an impressive movie portfolio, having portrayed several iconic roles such as Juliet Hulme in Heavenly Creatures, Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility, Ophelia in Hamlet, Rose DeWitt Bukater in Titanic, Madeleine in Quills, Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Sarah Pierce in Little Children, and April Wheeler in Revolutionary Road, among others.
Meanwhile, Solomon’s writing credits include ABC TV’s Laverne & Shirley, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, Bill & Ted Face The Music, Men In Black, Now You See Me, and more.
Apart from Winslet’s involvement in the series, other details about The Spot are still being kept under wraps.
