The iconic aviation game Microsoft Flight Simulator has received its first movie tie-in expansion with its new Top Gun: Maverick DLC. The Microsoft Flight Simulator expansion was first announced in June 2021, exciting manyTop Gun fans with its inclusion of new crafts from the film. The DLC is now available as a free update to the game, and includes new challenges, training, and jets inspired by Top Gun.
The new Top Gun: Maverick DLC was made in collaboration with Jerry Bruckheimer, the film's director. A celebration of aviation, the expansion aims to capture the feeling of flying the amazing crafts featured in Top Gun: Maverick while remaining true to Microsoft Flight Simulator's trademark realistic gameplay. All the new in-game jets have been meticulously recreated to match those featured in the movie, even the fictional SR 72 Dark Star. Alongside the new jets, the DLC adds new special maneuvers that can be practiced, locations from the movie, and the Top Gun soundtrack to accompany players in flight.
