While details about the upcoming movie titled Joker: Folie à Deux have been less than forthcoming, a recent report confirms that young Maze Runner actor Jacob Lofland has secured a role in the widely anticipated production.
Joker: Folie à Deux is a sequel to 2019’s widely acclaimed Joker movie, which was written through the collaborative efforts of Scott Silver and Todd Phillips, who also directed the critically acclaimed comic book movie. It starred Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role and followed Arthur Fleck's transformation into the titular character, laying out an alternative, deeply felt origin story for the popular DC comic villain and telling the story from his point of view. The sequel is set to directly continue the plot from the first film, leading to intense fan interest.

The report from The Hollywood Reporter specifies that Lofland will be playing a key supporting role in the upcoming movie, taking on the role of an unnamed inmate at Arkham Asylum, a special location in the Joker's wider canon and the rumored main setting of the upcoming film. This character is set to befriend and form a relationship with Phoenix's Arthur, though the nature and extent of this role are still unclear. Lofland, who has starred in such projects as the 2013 independent film Mud opposite stars Matthew McConaughey and Tye Sheridan, joins the returning Phoenix, Phillips, and Silver as well as newer hires that have been revealed since Joker 2 was confirmed in June.
