The popular manga Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has had numerous iconic and terrifying villains over the course of its 35-year run, but unfortunately it greatly mishandled what easily could have been its most terrifying. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a manga by Hirohiko Araki that is broken up into eight different parts, each of which follows a different set of characters. Despite the differences between each part, they all generally have a protagonist whose name can be abbreviated to Jojo and they all generally feature one main antagonist who serves as the “final boss” of the story. While many of these antagonists, like Dio Brando and Kira Yoshikage, have been iconic and terrifying, the eighth part’s main villain did not live up to those standards.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Jojolion is the eighth part of the series and follows the amnesiac Josuke Higashikata as he tries to uncover the secrets of his past. Along the way, he clashes with the mysterious Rock Humans over a magical plant called the Rokakaka fruit, which performs an equivalent exchange on anyone who eats it, healing one part of their body while turning another part to stone. These Rock Humans are silicon-based life forms who spend the first part of their life parasitically leaching off other animals before secretly infiltrating human society. Most of the Rock Humans have powerful Stands, a form of superpowers heavily featured in many parts of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Their leader is eventually revealed to be Tooru, the ex-boyfriend of Josuke’s romantic interest Yasuho who has one of the most powerful Stands in the entire series.
