It seems Annie Jorgensen was just as shocked as fans when Steven McBee didn't choose her as the winner of Joe Millionaire because apparently, he suggested she would win. A lot has happened since the show's finale when Steven shocked viewers by choosing Calah Jackson over Annie, with everyone except fellow bachelor Kurt Sowers sharing their side of the story. The season built up the inevitability of Annie and Steven by showing their obvious connection and romantic dates; however, Steven claims his connection with Calah was stronger. While the Texas native came across as very shy, making it hard for the men to get to know her, Steven saw more of a future with her than Annie.
After the Joe Millionaire finale, the pair revealed that they were living together and getting ready to move to a new home in Kansas City. But fans were still confused as to why Steven chose Calah when Annie seemed like a no-brainer from very early in the season. Some assumed that the bachelor didn't see a future with the New York City native because he was used to the small-town lifestyle and wasn't willing to give it up. However, Annie revealed that the two had discussed the situation and that she was more than willing to leave the big city behind when she was ready to start a family.
