Assassin's Creed Valhalla fans reaching the end of their first play throughs are faced with the dilemma of whether to buy the game's DLCs. As one of Ubisoft's best-selling titles, AC Valhalla has gained the admiration of series veterans and newer players alike for its historical accuracy, beautiful landscapes, and humongous story. But with the base game being so large, purchasing more content could be a waste.
Indeed, AC Valhalla is an incredibly long game. Like the more recent Assassin's Creed titles that have differed from the series' formula, AC Valhalla has run time of 59.5 hours — and that's just its story. Completing the entire base game could take up to 136 hours. Many critics of AC Valhalla's mistakes(even those who judge it favorably) have argued that the game would benefit from being cut down. However, DLCs have since done the opposite by adding more story, more areas, and more missions. The Legend of Beowulf, The Wrath of the Druids, and the Siege of Paris are all around 9 hours in length themselves, and the most recent DLC Dawn of Ragnarok is around 12 hours. This means that the AC Valhalla DLCs almost add a second main story line to game in terms of length. Buying the DLCs is thus a major time commitment.

Even so, if a player is questioning whether they should buy the DLCs while far into AC Valhalla's main game (and money is not an issue), then the DLCs are probably worth it. Just as sprawling novels are preferable to some readers, so are the recent Assassin's Creed games preferable to some players.
