According to WETA Workshop VFX supervisor Sean Walker, Guy Pearce had to have his beard digitally removed during pickup shoots forIron Man 3. Pearce starred in the conclusion to Marvel Studios' Iron Man trilogy as the leader of the evil scientific think-tank AIM. Pearce starred alongside Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, and Rebecca Hall.

Not only did Killian create a scientific think-tank to rival Star Industries by investing in projects Tony neglected, but also began to fund a cell of the Ten Rings organization to progress his own arms race, naming himself the Mandarin while hiding behind a stand-in. While Killian was quickly dispatched and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revised the Ten Rings and Trevor Slattery (Kingsley), one Marvel VFX supervisor has shared a surprising secret behind the character's final moments.
