Apple is now rolling out iOS 15.4 to all modern iPhones — and it comes with one of the biggest updates ever for Face ID. iOS updates are a fascinating thing to watch throughout the entire year. Apple releases a huge annual update each September. This includes major releases like iOS 13, iOS 14, iOS 15, etc. These are the updates where Apple introduces its biggest new features. iOS 13 added a system-wide dark mode, iOS 14 added widgets and the App Library, and iOS 15 brought Focus modes into the mix.

Once setup is complete, you can use Face ID to bypass the lock screen, open secure apps, and approve Apple Pay purchases — all while wearing a face mask. The one downside is that the functionality only works with iPhone 12 and newer models, meaning the iPhone 11, iPhone XS, and iPhone X don't have access to it.
