Insomniac has hired an experienced Marvel Cinematic Universe concept artist as an art director for the Spider-Man 2 game.
Davison Carvalho was hired by Insomniac Games in February of this year. The artist has worked as a freelance concept artist on Marvel movies such as Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok and Captain Marvel.
On his Doctor Strange work, Carvalho said: “I helped on early stages with the development of Look and Feel art and Environment Concept Art for the film. Worked for third part companies and teamed up with other amazing concept artists as well.”
The artist has also worked on a several high-profile games, specialising in UI, including Mortal Kombat X, Halo Infinite, Lone Echo and Amazon’s Crucible.
Grant Hollis and Gavin Goulden, the art directors for Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, are both working on Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game, according to their LinkedIn profiles.
Developed by Insomniac Games, Spider-Man 2 is coming exclusively to PS5 in 2023. Bill Rosemann, vice president of creative at Marvel Games, has described it as “everything you love” about the first game and Spider-Man: Miles Morales “but more”.
“There are multiple foes. I can say the story very much continues and picks up from Marvel’s Spider-Man to Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales,” he said last year.

“I don’t want to reveal too much but it’s the next big chapter, there are a lot of threads, a lot of characters that were in the first two games that you’ll see here.”
Insomniac Games is also working on a Wolverine game for PS5. According to the studio, the game will be a standalone title directed by Brian Horton
