The MCU Phase 5 can't simply be a repeat of Phase 4, despite the Russo Brothers' thoughts. Widely regarded as two of the most influential directors in the franchise, the filmmaking duo culminated in the Infinity Saga with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Despite the Russos' current non-involvement in the franchise, their opinion still has weight, especially with regards to what the MCU’s movie and TV show future looks like.
After the Infinity Saga, the MCU is currently in the process of rebuilding the universe. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, Marvel Studios needed to delay starting Phase 4, but once it kicked off, there has been a steady stream of new content from the franchise both on the big and small screen via Disney+. Considering the retirement of some of the franchise's founding heroes, there is a clear focus on introducing new characters and progressing the stories of already existing players in the MCU. Even at the tail end of Phase 4, however, it's still too early to tell what's the franchise's next overarching arc.

When asked about what they want to see in MCU Phase 5, the Russos say that they want Marvel Studios to be bolder in their creative choices, citing how they have been taking more risks in Phase 4. Essentially, the Avengers: Endgame directors are hoping that the franchise simply continues what they are doing now moving forward. However, this is ill advice. Phase 4 should function as a transition period, bridging the Infinity Saga and Marvel Studios' next storytelling chapter.
