Infinix announced the Zero 5G as its 2022 flagship phone for India a few weeks ago. Essentially a midrange Android phone with some high-end features, the Zero 5G seems to give a tough competition to the likes of the Lava Agni 5G, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, Moto G71 5G, and Realme 9 Pro. However, like most phones at its price, Infinix launched with Android 11 out of the box and many were left wondering whether an Android 12 update will come in the future. August 2022 also happens to be the month around when Google could be readying Android 13 for the masses in its final build.
It was surprising to see Infinix launch its flagship smartphone in a competitive market like India with an outdated OS in early 2022. Most midrange phones have started offering Android 12 out of the box; the Realme 9 Pro+ is an example. While most other brands are still stuck on Android 11 for their sub- ₹20,000 smartphones, all of them promise Android 12 within the next few months.

Nonetheless, it is still nice to see Infinix upgrading its Zero 5G to the newer Android OS upgrade. The Zero 5G is otherwise a very powerful phone for the price it sells. It offers the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset that managed to impress us in our review. The phone also offers good camera performance, courtesy of its 48MP main camera and an 8MP telephoto camera for portrait photos. The Zero 5G also has a nice 120Hz IPS LCD
