Inaba replaces Sato as Platinum president and CEO

Japanese development Platinum Games has had a change of management.

In a post on the studio's website, the company's president and CEO, Kenichi Sato (pictured) revealed that he had stepped down from his position at the end of December 2021. He is being replaced by Platinum's VP and head of development, Atsushi Inaba.

Sato took on the president and CEO role back in 2016. He will continue to work at Platinum in an advisor capacity.

"Our overarching goal for entering self-publishing has been unchanged since its conception: to invent something new and share it with the rest of the world – showing our sincerity towards creation every step of the way," Inaba wrote in his own message. 

"People speaking different languages, from different backgrounds, all brought together through a controller. Made to smile by a new type of game.

"It connects us, and sets us free.

"It’s a job that I’m extremely proud of.

"As I move forward towards the new challenges of the future, I hope to provide more and more experiences for all our users to enjoy." 

Since Sato taking over, Platinum has undergone some considerable changes as a company. For one, it has started to work more on its own intellectual property, as to not be entirely reliant on other companies. The firm has also opened a brand new studio in Tokyo and landed investment from Chinese tech and entertainment giant Tencent.
