Immortality, one of the most recent games from Sam Barlow, the creator of interactive film games Her Story and Telling Lies, has been announced for PS5. The interactive story will be available from January 23rd for Sony’s console. Immortality was first announced in 2021, and was then released in 2022.
“From the inception of this project, the goal has been sharing Marissa Marcel’s life and work with as large an audience as possible,” says IMMORTALITY director, Sam Barlow. “So I am thrilled to bring IMMORTALITY to PlayStation gamers and bring them face to face with a lost legend.”
Similar to San Barlow’s recent titles, you will be going through the recordings from an actress named Marissa Marcel, who starred in three films: Ambrosio, Minsky and Two of Everything. However, none of the films were actually released, and now Marissa Marcel has disappeared. It’s up to you to figure out what happened. Immortality is directed by Sam Barlow, with writing from Allan Scott (Don’t Look Now, Queen’s gambit), Amelia Gray (Mr. Robot, Maniac) and Barry Gifford (Wild at Heart, Lost Highway).
Playing Immortality, you’ll explore clips from the filming of the three unreleased movies. There will be three time periods thanks to this, with Ambrosio being from 1968, Minsky in 1971, and then a bigger 28 year jump ahead to Two of Everything in 1999 after a lengthy hiatus. Why and how did she disappear? You’ll have to explore clips, find visual clues and search terms in order to discover more clips and piece together the narrative.
