Set in an alternate 1895, Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown sends players deep into the Louisiana bayou to hunt for horrific creatures. Teams of up to three Hunters scour the swamps for clues to track down these vicious monsters while also watching their backs for rivals hunting the same bounty.
Naturally, for a game about monster hunting, Hunt: Showdown puts a lot of focus on its unlockable Hunters, with Crytek regularly adding new faces through downloadable content. The developer just announced that some new characters are venturing into the swamp. However, “new” might be the wrong word, as Crytek fans will recognize them from games like Crysis and Ryse: Son of Rome.
Hunt: Showdown Getting Live-Action Series For New Streaming Platform
New Legendary Hunters include Prophet from Crysis, Marius Titus from Ryse: Son of Rome, Laika from Robinson: The Journey, and the unnamed Climber from Climb. It isn’t clear how a futuristic cyborg, Roman legionary, baby Tyrannosaurus Rex, and modern mountain climber ended up in 1890s Louisiana. However, they bring a variety of new skills to the table. For example, Prophet’s Nanosuit grants him superhuman strength and speed alongside a cloaking ability. Marius Titus, meanwhile, excels in melee combat, while the Climber can scale walls and buildings for a tactical advantage. And while Crytek didn’t go into much detail about Laika’s abilities, there are plenty of ways a playable dinosaur might come in handy.
Hunt: Showdown’s developer showed off the new playable characters in a trailer on March 31st. It shows Prophet and Marius fighting alongside a rifle-toting nun, with cameos from Laika and the Climber. The so-far unnamed nun character is presumably another new Legendary Hunter, though Crytek’s press
