For many Android phone users, the alarm is the very first sound they hear before they wake up and start their day, and the good news is that the tone can be set as their favorite Spotify track. Those who prefer a milder melody to gradually bring them to full wakefulness may be satisfied with tunes like 'Spring' or 'Breeze' that are built into Google's Clock app. However, heavy sleepers who require a more extreme jolt to the senses may want to wake up to a classic rock song or a feel-good track. Hearing the pleasant upbeat feel of John Mayer's "New Light" in the morning may ignite good vibes, versus the annoying beeping or ringing sound usually associated with an alarm.
Some Android phones may include a custom built-in clock app designed by the manufacturer. However, since Android is a mobile operating system developed by Google, many Android phones come equipped with Google's own Clock app. Using the Google-designed alarm clock will ensure that songs from Spotify will work as a replacement alarm tone. Of course, it goes without saying that a Spotify account is needed as well.

Before setting an alarm sound as a song from Spotify, ensure that Google Clock is available on the Android phone. If not, download and install the app from the Google Play Store and hide the default clock app that comes pre-installed on the device. Go to Settings, tap Apps & notifications, and find the default clock app to be replaced. Tap Uninstall or Disable. Do note that depending on the Android phone model, menu names may appear differently, and on some devices, hiding pre-installed phone apps may not be possible. Next, ensure that the phone is running Android 9 or later.
