The cast of Cobra Kai reacts to the possibility of Hilary Swank's Julie Pierce returning in future seasons. The Karate Kid franchise returned in a big way in 2018 when YouTube launched the sequel series starring Johnny Lawrence (William Zapka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio). Cobra Kai gained a much bigger audience after it came to Netflix ahead of season 3, where it became one of the streaming service's most popular shows. For that reason, Cobra Kai season 5 has already been announced and is done filming. It will pick up after the dramatic events of season 4, which continued to bring back characters from the original movies.
The core focus of Cobra Kai has always stayed on Johnny and Daniel's ongoing rivalry as they teach the next generation fighters. While this has allowed the series to introduce new, fan-favorite characters like Miguel, Hawk, Tory, and Sam, it has not shied away from bringing back people from the movies. The returning Karate Kid characters in Cobra Kai range from Elisabeth Shue's Ali to Thomas Ian Griffith's Terry Silver. The cast of Cobra Kai, including Ralph Macchio, William Zapka, Hawk/Eli actor Jacob Bertrand, and Robby actor Tanner Buchanan, spoke to ET about the possibility of Hilary Swank's Julie Pierce joining Cobra Kai. Macchio and Zapka both said that it's a possibility since she is an established part of the Miyagi-verse but couldn't say if she is in the plans or not.
