Filling up the Pokédex is central to the story of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. As members of the Survey Corps in Team Galactic, players are tasked with researching the many Pokémon that live in the Hisui Region. Of these Pokémon, baby Pokémon in Pokémon Arceus can be some of the most challenging players come across concerning achieving research levels. However, unlike other baby Pokémon that evolve with friendship, Happiny stands apart with its unique evolution method.
Initially introduced in Generation IV of the Pokémon franchise, Happiny is the pre-evolved state of the beloved Egg Pokemon, Chansey. Chansey has served the franchise as the mascot of the Pokémon Centers, hospitals available in most towns where players can heal their Pokémon. While Pokémon Centers and the iconic Nurse Joy do not appear in the new Pokémon Arceus, Happiny and its evolved form Chansey do make an appearance. Players looking to research this evolution line will want the Happinys they catch to evolve into Chansey for their Pokédex.

The first stage of this evolution line is Happiny, the Playhouse Pokémon. As a baby Pokemon, Happiny has fairly poor stats. With a 5 in Attack and Defense and a 15 in Special Attack, Happiny will struggle to be an effective member of any adventuring team. While the Playhouse Pokémon can be a cute mascot for parties, players looking to upgrade their team will want to evolve their Happiny to Blissey, who has over double the total stat points of Happiny.
