One of the earliest bosses you will face in is Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, the first opponent you will have to beat through two separate phases. Armed with a holy sword and plenty of magic, Pieta can be a tough challenge as you are still learning the game's mechanics. You will have to take advantage of specific weaknesses to make Pieta much easier to contend with.
You encounter Pieta close to the Iron Wayfarer, a landmark past the Abandoned Redcopse Windmill in front of a large cathedral. This boss will attack you once you have already lost to the Lightreaper in , serving as an enemy you can defeat. There is little gear to collect along the path to this boss, making the fight a test of knowledge about gameplay systems and reading enemy attack patterns.

To understand what items and spells work best against Pieta, remember Pieta's only two vulnerabilities. The angel-like entity is weak to Fire and Wither attacks, taking significantly more damage from either type throughout both phases. Fire Salts and Wither Salts, consumable items in that apply both damage types to your weapon, are excellent tools for your fight with Pieta.
Some classes start with better equipment to face bosses early on, like the Dark Crusader in , who begins with a Paladin armor set and Paladin Issac's Sword.
This also applies to spells since Inferno magic causes Fire damage that will significantly injure Pieta every time you land a successful arcane attack. While your options will be limited from the start of, you will still have simple spells that produce enough flames to harm Pieta.
