iPhone owners can add a little excitement to an iMessage with a somewhat hidden feature that Apple included in its Messages app. Lasers and fireworks can appear on an iPhone along with matching sounds and vibrations to create extra impact. With an iPhone capable of doing so much more, messages don't have to be restricted to just text, emoji, and photos.
The iPhone has a special feature that can't be seen but is definitely felt. Known as haptics, Apple has one of the most advanced smartphone vibration systems for providing feedback to a user about some action that's taking place. This is similar to the rumble of a game controller when crashing a car or winning a reward. On an iPhone, haptics are used for daily activities, such as unlocking the phone, flipping a switch, or enhancing a special effect in an iMessage.

Apple's Messages app for the iPhone has a fun feature that allows a full-screen effect to be added to an iMessage that includes both sounds and haptics. These have an impact on the message as long as they aren't overused which would remove the novelty. There's a trick to accessing these effects. Normally a tap of the up arrow sends a message, but to send with a special effect, press and hold the send button. This will open a window with a Bubble tab and a Screen tab. The Screen tab is where the Laser and Fireworks effects can be found. There are several different effects to choose from, and swiping left and right shows a preview of how it will look. The full effect, including any sounds and haptics, won't be experienced until the message is sent which is done by tapping the arrow after selecting the preferred effect.
