Changing a Reddit username is nearly impossible, with only one key loophole that allows users to do so. As per Reddit, if a user creates their account using their Google account or Apple ID, they will be able to change the auto-assigned username. And even then, there's a strict 30-day window to change it. Once finalized, no modifications can be made to a Reddit username, including the capitalization of letters. If a Reddit account is deactivated, the username associated with the account cannot be claimed by another user.
Despite being strict about usernames, Reddit allows a user to have multiple accounts associated with a single email address. There's also an option to easily switch between different accounts in the app. The only restriction for multiple accounts is that users cannot use more than one account to vote on the same post, since this is considered a violation of community guidelines.

To change a Reddit username on iPhone or Android, a user should have created their account within the last 30 days, and have retained the auto-assigned name at the time of creation. From here, tap on the avatar inside the app located at the top left corner. From the menu, select 'My profile'. Tap on 'Change Username' and enter a new one. Reddit also shows suggestions of randomly generated available names that a user can pick. Click on Save, and the new username will now be updated on Reddit. If a user doesn't see the option to change their username, it means that the window for change has expired.
