Do you share a Windows 10 or 11 computer or tablet with the adults and children in your family? If so, you can easily add new family accounts to the device so everyone can use it individually with their own unique profile and settings. Even further, adults in the family can manage the use of the device by the children so the kids don't get into digital trouble.
As an adult, you can perform the following tasks on your kids' accounts:
Give your kids money so they can buy items in the Windows and Xbox stores without need of a credit card.
View activity reports about what your kids are doing on the device, such as purchasing apps and searching the web.
Set age limits for apps, games, videos, movies, and TV shows.
Set time limits for how long your kids can use the device.
For this to work, each family member needs to have their own Microsoft account. Any adult accounts must already have been created. But an account for a child can be created on the fly. The primary account used to set up the PC is already part of the device's family, so now the goal is to add the other people in your family. Let's go through the steps for setting up these accounts.
You can add people directly in Windows as well as through your Microsoft account page. Let’s try the Windows route first. In Windows 10 or 11, go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users. In Windows 10, click the button for Add a family member. In Windows 11, click the button for Add account next to the option for Add a family member.
Type the person’s email address. Click Next.
At the next screen, choose the person’s role, which depends on whether you’re adding an account for an adult or a child. If you’re adding an account for an adult, click the option for Organizer. If
