Homeworld 3’s release has been delayed to early 2024
Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing have delayed Homeworld 3 again.
Originally planned for release last year before being pushed to the first half of 2023, the game has now been further delayed to February 2024.
“Our primary goal is to deliver a Homeworld experience that lives up to the standards set by its predecessors and is worthy of this series’ incredible legacy,” the companies said.

“Homeworld 3 is shaping up to be exactly that, but in order to fully realize that vision we need more time to refine and polish the game.
“We deeply appreciate your passion and dedication to this game, and we are working hard to get Homeworld 3 to you as soon as we can.”
Announced at PAX West in August 2019 to coincide with the franchise’s 20th anniversary, the 3D real-time strategy game is set in space generations after the events of Homeworld 2, which was released in 2003.
“Homeworld 3 is the last word in epic space combat,” Blackbird CEO Rob Cunningham said at the time. “It will capture the mood and tone of Homeworld and deliver it in an exactly expected and juicy, lovely way.
“There will be an extension of the story that’s totally satisfying with some interesting twists and turns, and locations that I think will blow some minds and resonate with existing fans and new fans alike.”
Blackbird’s most recent release was April’s Minecraft Legends, which was co-developed with Microsoft’s Mojang Studios.
