The house works so well in the Scream franchise because it seems very normal and unassuming but, of course, it's the place where teens get killed during wild parties.
Michael Myers is an iconic horror villain and his childhood home in the 1978 film Halloween is iconic as well. The others on the street know that there is where he killed his parents and sister when he was a kid, and it's definitely terrible to imagine living in this neighborhood.
