Given how massively successful Hogwarts Legacy was, it should come as no surprise that Warner Bros. intends to follow up on the single-player open world action RPG with a sequel, even though the company is otherwise insistent on following through with its unfortunate live service push.
Speaking in an interview at Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference (reported by Variety), Warner Bros. Discovery’s CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is a major priority for the company “a couple of years down the road”, and is something that is expected to drive significant revenues.
“Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road,” Wiedenfels said. “So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here.”
In January earlier this year, WB Games announced that Hogwarts Legacy had sold over 24 million units worldwide across all platforms. In June, a report claimed that a Director’s Cut of the title was being worked on by Avalanche Software, with support provided by Rocksteady Studios.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
