Despite the game having an incredible opening week, physical sales for Hogwarts Legacy have taken a shocking decline during its second week on the market. The game based on the beloved Harry Potter book and film series didn't see the same returns compared to its first week, but that's not stopping the fantasy RPG from being one of the most successful releases of the year so far.
There's no doubt that Hogwarts Legacy has been one of the most anticipated games of the year. Being one of the first big releases of 2023, many fans of the world of Harry Potter have been patiently waiting to finally get to have their own unique experiences at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. With that kind of hype, there were undoubtedly high expectations when it came to the game's sales. Although the game had a stellar first week return, those numbers have surprisingly gone down rather drastically since the initial release.

Compared to the first week being on the market, physical copies of Hogwarts Legacy have seen a drop of 66% during its second week in the United Kingdom. Despite this drop, Hogwarts Legacy is an incredibly popular game, and is still the number one game in the UK at the time of this writing. Surprisingly, the game's first week in the UK was 88% larger than last year's biggest release, Elden Ring. Even though a drop of 66% seems like an alarming number, it's apparently a smaller drop than most big game releases after their first week on the market, according to Game Industry.
