developer IO Interactive has announced that it's cutting all ties with MMA fighter and Boxer Conor McGregor due to being found liable of sexual assault. McGregor had previously appeared in as The Disruptor, a multi-millionaire assassination target. Earlier today, McGregor was found liable by the Irish High Court in Dublin for the assault and rape of a woman in December 2018.
In a statement shared on the official X account, IO Interactive stated: ""
The company will remove all content featuring McGregor from its storefront, making it impossible for players to purchase content with The Disruptor moving forward.
The appearance of Conor McGregor in was a limited-time free event, and not a part of the base game. The Disruptor was a character modeled after McGregor both in terms of his background in MMA and physically, including his signature tattoos. The Disruptor was released as an Elusive Target in Summer 2024, paired with heavy marketing featuring McGregor.
Following its horrible launch on Steam, IO Interactive has announced free digital upgrades for Steam users who purchase or purchased Hitman 3.
The character's cosmetics could also be purchased as part of The Disruptor Pack, which gave players access to the items and clothing worn by the character in his mission. The pack also gave players access to The Ostentatius, the Arcade setting of the Elusive Target mission.
IO Interactive has stated that it "" As of the time of this writing, The Disruptor Pack is still available on Steam, but it and all other Disruptor content will likely be down before the day ends. The developers haven't been clear about what this means for players who have already purchased and own the content pack, including whether refunds will be issued.
