Courtesy of the team at HiFiGo, we have word that popular audiophile YouTuber, Gizaudio, has released his latest collaboration, this time with Binary Audio. This new in-ear monitor (IEM) is called the Chopin and adopts a hybrid driver design. Consisting of a dynamic driver and three balanced armatures, the focus of this new pair of earphones seems to be detail, potentially making it a great fit for gaming as well. It’s available for pre-order now for $199.
Gizaudio’s original collaboration, the Galileo, was quite popular. That IEM was produced in partnership with Letshouer. This new model is being made in partnership with Binary Audio, a brand that began in 2017 and has largely been steeped in research and development. It brings its technologies to bear here, under the tuning direction of Timmy, the lead host on the channel.
This new model also ups the driver count. While the Galileo featured a single dynamic driver (DD) and balanced armature (BA) to create its soundscape, the Chopin uses a refined dynamic driver and three balanced armatures. The DD is 8mm and uses a metal-ceramic diaphragm for extra rigidity and speed in the bass. The balanced armatures are split with a single unit dedicated to the mids and two to cover the treble with a tuning that emphasizes smoothness and detail. The overall tuning appears to deliver solid low-end with extended treble response.
The design of the Chopin looks quite elegant. In keeping with its name, there’s a refined quality about them. Their stainless steel faceplates have a waveform alongside their name, directly in line. The shells are made of smooth resin. The cable is also modular and includes 3.5mm and 4.4mm swappable terminations.
