Embracer COO Strunke departs the company
The chief operating officer of Embracer Group, Egil Strunke, has left the company.
In a post on LinkedIn, the exec announced that he was leaving to start his own company. The imaginatively-named Strunke Games is set to support and "be involved" in game projects and studios.
Strunke has worked at Embracer for a total of seven years across two stints; he was employed by the company between 2011 and 2014 back when it was Nordic Games, before rejoining in 2019 as chief operating officer.
Back in June, Embracer announced that it had appointed Matthew Karch, the head of Saber Interactive, as an interim COO, though did not explicitly announce Strunke's departure.
"Last week I left Embracer Group as COO, and it’s with mixed feelings I am parting ways this global company phenomenon, rooted in Karlstad, Sweden," he wrote.
"On one hand grateful for having had the chance to work with the one-of-a-kind Lars Wingefors and all the other amazing colleagues (too many to mention!) which I will be sad to leave."
