T-Mobile is giving its subscribers a reason to stare at their phones for 45 minutes at a stretch, plus stoppage time: a free one-year subscription to Apple TV’s MLS Season Pass.
The wireless carrier’s new freebie is now available via its T-Mobile Tuesdays mobile app(Opens in a new window). To claim it, open the app, provide your wireless number, and tap “Save” below the offer.
You’ll then get a code that you can redeem—you have until 4:59 a.m. Eastern on March 14 to do so—by tapping “Copy code and redeem” to open Apple TV’s site in your phone’s browser. Signing in and tapping “Continue” to claim the offer should get your free season-long access to every Major League Soccer match, without any need to paste in that code.
That is “every” as in “every,” not “every match not involving your home team.” The deal Apple struck with Major League Soccer in 2022 is free of the usual geographic limits of sports streaming services. Apple charges $12.99 a month or $79 a year for Season Pass if you already subscribe to Apple TV+ (which itself runs $6.99 a month or $69 a year), with a standalone subscription to the MLS package running $14.99 a month or $99 for the season.
T-Mobile’s press release says “T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers” are eligible, although a line in its fine print limits that without further explanation to “Qualifying plans.” The offer doesn’t require an Apple TV+ subscription, although T-Mobile has earlier offered a free year of that service to subscribers and now includes it with its high-end Magenta Max plan.
This is one of the more valuable freebies T-Mobile has offered through its Tuesdays app, which it introduced in June 2016 as a customer-retention move. The dollar value doesn’t match the free MLB.tv
