While footage of the upcoming Front Mission remakes has been slim, new Front Mission 2: Remake screens give us a better look at the project. The screens come directly from the Nintendo Store listing, which was updated recently.
In case you haven’t played the Front Mission franchise before, it’s a classic tactical strategy game from G-Craft/Square Enix (then Squaresoft). It was wildly successful at the time, especially among SRPG fans, which led to these very remakes being dug up in the modern era. Developer Storm Trident and publisher Forever Entertainment (alongside of Square Enix) are handling the remakes.
Here’s a quick brief on the second game, which takes place 12 years after the original:
“12 years have passed since the second Huffman conflict. The impoverished People’s Republic of Alordesh has been suffering a severe economic decline ever since the war ended. In June 2102, soldiers of the Alordesh Army rise up and, led by Ven Mackarge, declare independence from the O.C.U. (Oceania Cooperative Union).”
As a reminder, Front Mission 1st: Remake is out in November, and Front Mission 2: Remake will be arriving in 2023. Nintendo also announced a Front Mission 3 remake project slated for “the future,” though no window is in sight.
