A new discussion between Helldivers 2 players questions why defeating Terminid nests and Automaton fabricators has no distinct effect on how easy or difficult the extraction process becomes. Since launching on February 8, Helldivers 2 has been on a wild ride as it became so popular that developer Arrowhead Game Studios couldn't keep up with the demand. As the population blew past expectations and server capacity caps, the developers at Arrowhead released numerous patches to not only continue increasing the cap, but reduce crashes, and implement features like logging out players who had become inactive to try and save their spot without needing to log in.
However, the initial weeks of server problems and other errors impacting the game have largely been resolved, meaning the studio has been freed up to work on new content, feature ideas as well as continue to make quality of life improvements. In fact, some players have already seen or gotten to experience some future Helldivers 2 content in the form of mech suits and buggy-style vehicles. Even with the game continuing to be incredibly popular, fans are always looking to pass along new ideas or other ways to keep the game feeling fresh.
The latest idea comes from the Helldivers 2 community on Reddit, where a user named Ytiria kicked off a new thread regarding the extraction process and how inconsistent it can be. In Helldivers 2, players need to extract off the map once the main mission is complete, though they'll first need to defend a position against enemy factions like Automaton or Terminid forces for 2 minutes until a drop shop can pick them up. To help make the experience more consistent in terms of enemy density, Ytiria suggests that the more optional Fabricators or Nests that are cleared out during a run, the intensity of the extraction is lessened.
