James Gunn shackled the lead character of his Peacemaker series by never equipping the anti-hero with a helmet capable of more than one superpower. Peacemaker, whose real name is Chris Smith, spent the majority of his eight-episode conflict with the otherworldly Butterflies at a significant disadvantage. While his comic counterpart never wielded anything as powerful as the live-action Peacemaker helmets, it was still peculiar that a character as driven as Chris never brought all of his abilities into the field at once.
Chris, played by John Cena, went through a tremendous transformation during Peacemaker season 1. One of the few constants throughout his journey was Peacemaker's limited resources, most notably the finite amount of helmets he weaponized against the Butterflies. Based on everything known about Peacemaker season 2, it's expected that some of the same themes, challenges, and relationships will return. One dynamic that did change, however, related directly to Peacemaker's helmets. By the end of Peacemaker season 1, Chris's father, the White Dragon (Robert Patrick), was no longer designing his son's gear.
