HBO Max has ordered a Harley Quinn spin-off series tentatively titled Noonan's, and centered on Kite Man, according to a release. The spin-off will begin with a ten-episode season and is currently deep in development.
The synopsis for the series reads as follows: «Lovable loser Kite Man and his new squeeze Golden Glider moonlight as criminals to support their foolish purchase of Noonan's, Gotham's seediest dive bar, where everybody knows your name, but not necessarily your secret identity.»
Harley Quinn, based on the DC Comics character of the same name, was co-created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. That series is written and executive produced by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey--who are all executive producing the spin-off, joined by Kaley Cuoco, who voices Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn began in 2019 and was renewed for Season 3 back in 2020.
According to Slash Film, Noonan's was teased by Schumacker at a SXSW panel back in March.
Harley Quinn will be back for Season 3 sometime this summer. In that batch of episodes, Schumacker also mentioned at SXSW that there will be a «big love letter to Batman: the Animated Series» featuring original backgrounds from that show--and also an appearance by James Gunn, who plays himself, directing a movie about Thomas Wayne.
Elsewhere in the Batman franchise, it's already been announced that Robert Pattinson will be returning for a sequel to The Batman. Fingers are crossed everywhere for it to include Nicolas Cage as Eggman.
