Halo TV Show Is Canceled (But Is Being Shopped Around) While Fallout Ramps Up Season 2 and Earns Emmy Nominations

The Halo TV show has been canceled by Paramount after two seasons, as confirmed in a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter.

We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. Franchise developer 343 Industries also shared a statement:

We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success, and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.

While the first season of the Paramount show definitely had its ups and downs, the second season was a marked improvement, so this decision is a bit disappointing. Thankfully, it's not over yet, as producers at Amblin, Xbox, and 343 Industries are trying to find other channels/streaming partners, and Paramount is reportedly supportive of the endeavor. The Halo series may still continue elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the Fallout TV show has no such problems, following an excellent debut season that just earned it 17 nominations for 16 Emmy awards, including the Outstanding Drama category. While it will be tough to beat the likes of Shogun and The Bear, the series will probably be able to grab a few prizes at least. Moreover, Amazon head of TV Vernon Sanders told Variety that season 2 of the Fallout TV show is actually ahead of schedule:
