Renowned fighting game developer Arc System Works revealed elements of its Season Pass 3 roadmap for Guilty Gear Strive at the Evolution Championship Series. Most notably, Strive's third DLC pack will add new characters and extra battle options to the already rich fighting game.
Johnny, the sword-wielding captain of the Jellyfish Pirates, will be the first DLC character to drop when he makes his Guilty Gear Strive debut on Aug. 24. He comes as part of the $24.99 Season Pass 3, or as a $6.99 individual purchase. With Johnny's arrival, Guilty Gear Strive expands to 25 playable characters.
Likewise, Guilty Gear Strive's gameplay continues to grow with the addition of two new combat mechanics. Wild Assault is an offensive option for rush attacks, while Deflect Shield is a defensive option that puts space between you and your opponent after a block. Both moves consume 50% of the Burst Gauge. It's too early to determine how these upcoming gameplay tweaks will impact Guilty Gear Strive's meta. Guilty Gear Strive Season 3 also contains two new battle stages and a third character color pack.
To make it easier for potentially new Guilty Gear Strive players to purchase all of the previous and Season Pack 3 content, Arc System Works will release the Guilty Gear Strive Daredevil Edition on Aug. 24. The $99.99 package includes Season Pass 1-3 and additional content that celebrates the Guilty Gear series' 25th anniversary.
