An earlier performance estimation of the A17 Bionic showed that there were no major single-core gains compared to its predecessor, the A16 Bionic. However, the latest alleged results have an entirely different image on display, as the upcoming 3nm SoC steamrolls the competition and last year’s A-series flagship by getting up to a 31 percent performance gain in both single-core and multi-core results.
The image shared by Naveen Tech Wala on X shows that the test was carried out on the iPhone 15 Pro, revealing the identifier iPhone 16,1. A previous specifications rumor stated that the A17 Bionic will continue to feature a 6-core CPU like the A16 Bionic, and the Geekbench 6 results reveal the same 3.70GHz clock speed for the two performance cores.
The similarities in the image below and the earlier rumor suggest that these Geekbench 6 results might be legit, with the A17 Bionic showing an impressive 31 percent gain against the A16 Bionic in the benchmark’s single-core result by getting 3,269 points, compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 2,493 results.

In the multi-core test, the difference is not that pronounced, with the A17 Bionic obtaining a 24 percent higher result than the A16 Bionic, which is still impressive, but not at the same level as those single-core figures. The Geekbench 6 image also shows the Metal scores, which test the GPU of the upcoming SoC.
Previously, we reported the estimated Metal scores and the A17 Bionic turned out to be 17 percent faster than the M1. On this occasion, the iPhone 15 Pro’s custom silicon is slightly speedier than the predicted scores, getting 30,669 in the same test.
