War of the Worlds: Siberia is set to be precisely what it sounds like another rendition of The War of the Worlds, but this time in video game format, and set in a land that no alien invasion movie or video game franchise has dared to tread, Russia. Not only did the game’s events take place in Russia, but it is an alternative version of Russia in 1896.
1896 marks the first year of the Martian Invasion on Earth, and we get to see the effects of this taking place within the Russian Empire. Players will meet several characters trying to flee to safety on the eastern end of the Russian Empire. The website promises “remarkable characters”, “picturesque locations”, “dramatic cinematic scenes” for players to dive into, and “arduous challenges” for us to face should we take on the task.
