A new casting call for HBO Max's Green Lantern TV show seemingly indicates the DC Comics series may start filming later this year. The Green Lantern moniker is donned by a number of characters throughout DC's history, all of whom wield a ring granting them with powers allowing them to utilize their imagination to create weaponry and objects to aid them in protection of the galaxy. Hal Jordan has been the most notable and adapted of the Green Lantern characters over the years alongside the likes of Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz.
Though receiving plenty of positive reviews for his animated appearances, Green Lantern's live-action works have been derided by critics, most notably that of the Ryan Reynolds-starring 2011 movie. With the launch of the DC Extended Universe, Warner Bros. elected to try their hand at adapting the character one again with the long-gestating Green Lantern Corps movie and an HBO Max series featuring a number of different Lanterns. With the main cast for the new Green Lantern show now assembled, it appears development is trucking along faster than some realize.

A few years after development on the series was first announced, Backstage has released a casting call for HBO Max's Green Lantern TV show. The posting calling for additional roles in the series also indicates that the DC Comics project is expected to begin filming in Los Angeles later this year.
