It turns out that Green Lantern has the perfect weapon to use against Superman’s heat vision. Hal Jordan utilizes his ring in yet another inventive way which could theoretically help defeat the Man of Steel, if the occasion were to arise.
Although Superman has a handful of weaknesses, including Kryptonite, magic, and a variety of ways in which his powers can be turned against him, he is one of the most powerful members of the Justice League. However, his status among his superhero colleagues has been called into question many times before. While he isn’t invulnerable, the League has struggled to take him down when necessary. Whether Superman is under a spell or subject to a power beyond his own, the rest of the team has reason to fear him. However, Hal Jordan presents a relevant power he could use against the League’s signature leader in Green Lantern #23 (2013), written by Robert Venditti with art by Richard Friend, Billy Tan.

When Green Lantern is shot down by laser blasters, he manifests a looping track surrounding himself which causes blasts to be redirected at his attackers. It’s a convenient use of his ring, and demonstrates what he could easily do to Superman, if he used his heat vision against his super friend. The best bet against Superman tends to involve his powers being turned against him. When Superman has fought fellow Kryptonians before, it has been shown that they can each be affected by one another’s powers. By that logic, Superman would take a hit from his own heat vision, if redirected back at himself.
