A Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy player has discovered an unfortunate mistake in some of the signs in the GTA 3 game world, in what is yet another example of poor quality control in Grove Street Games’ remastered versions of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was released late last year on numerous gaming platforms, delivering remastered versions of classic Grand Theft Auto titles. Since its release, it has been plagued with technical issues and questioned for its stylistic changes. Developed by Grove Street Games, the game package was universally panned by critics and received badly by players upon release. Grove Street Games is known for porting existing titles to mobile platforms, having previously worked on projects including the mobile editions of Ark: Survival Evolved and Rockstar’s Bully: Anniversary Edition, among other titles.

A Reddit user named pog_3r discovered the error in GTA 3 — The Definitive Edition, posting their find to the /r/GTA sub-Reddit with a photo. The image shows the exit sign on the bridge leading from Portland Island to Staunton Island, which incorrectly reads “drive carefully in tunnel” where no such tunnel exists. In the original version of GTA 3, the sign correctly reads “drive carefully on bridge.”
Commenters were confused about why the developers changed the sign at all and criticized Grove Street Games' mistake, with one user suggesting it could be evidence of “copy and paste without looking.” Indeed, the GTA 3 world does have a short network of tunnels connecting the islands.
