An undergraduate engineering degree costs a lot of money: about $44,072 for a state school, $144,524 for a private one. To recoup that cash, you’re going to want to attend one of the schools whose graduates earn the most.
Web hosting provider Hostinger did the math to find the top 10 schools when it comes to potential salaries. First on the list is Princeton University’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. Its graduates make about $227,172 per year. Some, like Jeff Bezos, make much more than that.
Following Princeton is the University of Washington, where the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering is named for the Microsoft co-founder. Allen did not attend the school, but in high school he and Bill Gates used its labs for a personal project until they were banned for being noisy, disruptive, and possible suspects in the case of some missing equipment. All has been forgiven thanks to the $50 million Allen gave the school. Those who’ve graduated from it make a median salary of $168,957 per year.
Engineering graduates of Santa Clara University can expect to earn about $159,782 per year. But they may never live up to one of the school’s most recent graduates, 14-year-old Kairan Quazi—who just went to work at SpaceX.
Duke University has the Pratt School of Engineering, whose graduates earn about $137,144 per year. The school is currently working on reducing the environmental impact of AI.
Fifth on the list is the University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science. Its alumni earn about $135,287 a month. That school is followed by UCLA’s Samueli School of Engineering (median annual alumni salary: $128,131) and the place where the father of the internet, Vint Cerf, studied; Brigham
