The Humble Choice Collection June 2023 just dropped, giving members a batch of eight new PC games they can download and keep forever as part of their $12/month subscription. Once you claim the games, they are yours to keep even if you cancel your subscription. This effectively makes Humble Choice a standard game bundle, and June's lineup is excellent.
Headlining the June 2023 Humble Choice offerings is Ghostwire: Tokyo, a first-person action title from Tango Gameworks--the studio that also made The Evil Within and Hi-Fi Rush. Players explore Tokyo in the wake of a supernatural event where all humans are turned into spirits, and battle against demonic Yokai using a mix of psychic powers and melee attacks.
Remnant: From The Ashes Complete Edition is a third-person co-op shooter-RPG-hybrid where teams of players explore ever-changing worlds. The game takes cues from the Souls-like and rogue-like genres--including weighty combat and procedural level generation--but isn’t quite as tough as either, and you never lose progress upon defeat. This version includes the Swamps of Corsus and Subject 2923 DLC expansions.
If you’re looking for a more unforgiving roguelike experience, there’s Curse of the Dead Gods, brutal action-RPG where you explore randomized levels filled with monsters and loot. Grime is another game from this month’s lineup worth shouting out. This 2D action-platformer pulls inspiration from metroidvania and Souls-like genres. While there are plenty of games that fit that description these days, Grime’s unique art style and character progression mechanics stand out amid the crowd of similar games.
