Gotham Knightshas been announced now for nearly two years. In that time, WB Games Montreal has only recently started its dedicated marketing campaign following a single gameplay walkthrough and its delay, which pushed Gotham Knights to its current release date. Interestingly, a live-action CW series of the same name was announced sometime in 2021 before a pilot was eventually ordered earlier this year.
However, while both the game and the series share the title Gotham Knights, the latter has no connection whatsoever to WB Games Montreal’s game. Instead, the series centers around an eclectic cast of characters such as Bruce Wayne’s adopted son, Turner Hayes, as well as Stephanie Brown, Carrie Kelley, Harper and Cullen Row, and Duela and Harvey Dent. Since the series has had a lot of attention drawn to it lately, WB Games Montreal now clarifies its distinction.
Gotham Knights Will Be at Summer Game Fest
The CW’s Gotham Knights has been in the news for some time now, but for some reason, WB Games Montreal has finally decided to speak out and clarify that its Gotham Knights is only comparable to the CW’s Gotham Knights in name alone. This was likely decided upon for a couple of reasons: WB Games Montreal may have heard the negative reception to the CW’s show and wanted to further isolate itself from that project, or it may have had a significant number of fans asking if the two shared a continuity due to their titles being identical.
Either way, it is likely an SEO nightmare for both DC properties since fans searching for one will inevitably land on the other and vice versa.
