Funko Games has announced a new line-up of Disney-themed board games for 2022, including one based on the classic animated film A Goofy Movie. The 1995 musical movie-turned Funko Games board game follows Goofy as he attempts to bond with his teenage son Max during a cross-country fishing trip. While A Goofy Movie wasn’t quite as financially successful as some of Disney’s other classic films, it is still fondly remembered for its soundtrack, surprisingly deep plot, and solid voice cast — including a cameo from Dante Basco years before his turn as the conflicted Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
A Goofy Movie didn’t have any tie-in video games, but its parent show Goof Troop was the subject of a top-down action-adventure title for the Super Nintendo back in the 90s. Likewise, the direct-to-video follow-up, An Extremely Goofy Movie, had a PC tie-in titled Disney's Extremely Goofy Skateboarding, in which players could skate as either Goofy or Max across multiple Disney-themed levels. Goofy himself is far more well-known for his appearances in the long-running Kingdom Hearts franchise, where he assists a young hero named Sora in his quest to save the many Disney worlds from the forces of darkness. His son Max, on the other hand, has yet to appear in a video game since the aforementioned Disney's Extremely Goofy Skateboarding.
