GOG’s Summer Sale has been updated with another free game.
Historical action adventure title The First Templar – Special Edition is now free to download until July 6 at 6am PT / 9am PT / 2pm GMT.
To claim the game, players are required to opt in to receive GOG marketing emails.
“The First Templar follows the story of two main characters – a French Templar, and his companion, a noble lady who has been proclaimed a heretic,” according to its GOG store listing.
“Taking control over these two unlikely allies, the player must uncover the mysteries behind the Templar Order, play a role in a grand conspiracy, and discover the secret of the Holy Grail.
“The heroes face powerful opponents at every turn, including Sacracen, King Philip the IV of France and the Inquisition.
“The First Templar features both single player and co-op modes. When playing solo, the player can switch between the two characters, leaving the control of the second hero to the game’s AI. At any moment a second player can join in and take control of the AI-controlled hero.”
Developed by Haemimont Games and published by Kalypso Media Digital, the title was released in 2022 and the PC version has a score of 57 on review aggregation site Metacritic.
By way of comparison, The First Templar – Special Edition normally costs $9.99 / £7.99 on Steam, but it’s currently discounted to $3.99 / £3.19 as part of the Steam Summer Sale.
Running until July 10, GOG’s Summer Sale includes over 6,000 offers and discounts of up to 95%, according to the company.
Earlier in the promotion, GOG gave away isometric RPG Shadows: Awakening free of charge.
